Kylie Minogue and Margot Robbie Channel Nostalgia in New Michel Gondry-Directed Chanel Campaign

Over two decades ago, Kylie Minogue captivated global audiences with “Come Into My World,” a standout single from her seminal eighth studio album, Fever. Today, that ethereal pop anthem finds a second life as the centerpiece of a sophisticated new Chanel advertisement, which doubles as a high-fashion tribute to the song’s iconic visual legacy.
Set within a vibrant Parisian dreamscape, the campaign stars Wuthering Heights actress Margot Robbie. The film utilizes a clever “multiplicity” technique, featuring various versions of Robbie as she navigates a bustling street. In a series of choreographed loops, she is seen browsing a bookstore, hailing a taxi, gracefully descending stone steps, and wandering through the city with a bicycle—capturing the whimsical essence of daily life in France.
The cinematic short is helmed by the legendary Michel Gondry, the original director of the 2002 “Come Into My World” music video. In a delightful nod to the past, Minogue herself makes a cameo, appearing in a second-story window clad in a soft pink knit. She serenades the scene as her classic track provides the rhythmic pulse for Robbie’s journey through the streets.
Upon its initial release, “Come Into My World” enjoyed an eight-week tenure on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 91. Its parent album, Fever, was a commercial juggernaut, climbing to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in early 2002 and remaining on the charts for nearly a year. The era was defined by several era-defining hits, including the global phenomenon “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” which soared to No. 7, and the infectious “Love At First Sight,” which reached No. 23.
