Maren Morris remains in the procedure of recovery, which indicates she’s shutting the door on love– in the meantime. Ahead of the Friday (July 12) launch of her brand-new tune “I Hope I Never Fall in Love,” the singer-songwriter opened regarding what influenced its verses: enjoying an easy “situationship” post-divorce.

“It’s pretty self-explanatory from the title, having just gone through a giant breakup,” Morris stated of the track in an Instagram Reels video clip uploaded the day before its arrival. “Just not wanting to go down that path again, and wanting to keep things casual, and really just lean into the ‘situationship’ of it all.”

“You get to scream the chorus, and I can’t wait to sing it live with everyone,” she included.

The Evan Blair- created tune transpires 10 months after Morris declared separation from fellow songwriter Ryan Hurd, with whom she shares 4-year-old boyHayes In herOct 2 declaring, Morris’ attorneys specified that the ex-couple was “unable to live together successfully as husband and wife,” and were “experiencing irreconcilable differences in their marriage.”

After “I Hope I Never Fall in Love” went down, the singer once more clarified the tune’s definition in a follow-up Instagram blog post, keeping in mind that it has to do with “the afterglow of a s–tshow.” “it’s a bittersweet heartbreaker because I’m in self-protection mode but still want to feel things,” she proceeded. “throwing parties, going home with a stranger, popping champagne… whatever we need to do to process our pain, it’s not always a pretty road to healing.”

“i, of course, DO want to fall in love again, but I can’t put my heart through it just yet,” she included. “so here’s a number about this strange but constructive (and destructive) window of my life. out everywhere now. ❤️‍🩹”

The track will certainly show up on Morris’ approaching EP Intermission, which is slated forAug 2. In June, she went down an additional tune from the five-track job: “Cut!” including Julia Michaels.
