Marathon Release: Bungie Reveals Launch Time and Starting Content

The studio has issued a final briefing for players ahead of its highly anticipated new title. We have consolidated the essential launch details, ranging from precise server deployment times to critical information regarding console subscription requirements.

Launch Schedule and Server Deployment

Marathon, the sci-fi extraction shooter from Bungie, is set to debut on March 5, 2026. Servers are scheduled to go live at 10:00 AM PST (21:00 Moscow time). Developers are anticipating a significant initial player surge and have advised that login queues may occur during the opening hours.

Pre-loading is now available across all platforms for those who have secured a pre-order. A vital note for “Server Slam” participants: you must uninstall the previous testing build and download the client from scratch, as the retail version utilizes an entirely different architecture.

The game will be available on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. At launch, the title will support full cross-play and cross-progression, enabling players to maintain their journey seamlessly across any supported device.

Console users should be aware of specific technical prerequisites. Access to online multiplayer will require an active PS Plus subscription on PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Game Pass Core subscription for Xbox Series hardware.

Launch Day Content

Upon release, players can explore six distinct factions and choose from six Runner classes (including the Thief). The arsenal features 28 weapons, supported by a deep crafting and modification system. While three locations were originally planned for launch, only two will be accessible on day one. The third zone, Outpost, is slated for a March 6 opening, reserved for players who reach Level 12.

Competitive ranked play and the elite endgame environment, Cryo Archive—a derelict vessel orbiting Tau Ceti—will be introduced in mid-March alongside the Season 1 kickoff. Twitch Drops and beta participation rewards will begin distribution on launch day, though players should allow up to 48 hours for items to appear in their accounts.
