Well ahead of the official release of her highly anticipated album Confessions II, Madonna is offering fans an exclusive, early look at her latest artistic chapter. On Friday, June 5, the pop icon will return to the Tribeca Festival for the world premiere of a 10-minute cinematic project. Directed by TORSO (David Toro and Solomon Chase), the film artfully weaves together the first six tracks from the upcoming record.
The screening will be followed by a special conversation featuring Madonna and the directors, who will sit down with Jimmy Fallon to discuss the creative inspiration behind this new project.
Featuring tracks like “I Feel So Free” and her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, “Bring Your Love,” the film is described as a visceral, immersive journey. It captures the chaotic intensity of an unforgettable night out—focusing not just on events, but on the raw emotions they evoke. Throughout the film, Madonna is portrayed as both a target and an idol, pursued by a cadre of camera-wielding women. The narrative traverses various settings—from intimate bedrooms and gritty club bathrooms to expansive arenas and nature—exploring the duality of the artist’s life: the tension between privacy and fame, grief and liberation, and the singular, sacred sanctuary of the dancefloor.
“Madonna continues to prove that she is the ultimate master of reinvention,” said Tribeca Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal. “Confessions II feels remarkably current and provocative, capturing that unique nightlife mythology only she can conjure. We are delighted to have her back at Tribeca.” Madonna previously made a memorable appearance at the 2008 festival for the debut of I Am Because We Are, a documentary on Malawian children affected by AIDS.
Reflecting on the festival’s enduring connection with the artist, Rosenthal noted that beyond their shared New York roots, there is a deep personal history. “I am close friends with her manager, Guy Oseary, and the timing of this new album release aligned perfectly for a return to the festival,” she shared.
Confessions II, which marks a reunion between Madonna and legendary producer Stuart Price, is set for release on July 3.
