Modern technology simplified several development stages for this sequel.
Epic Games monitors projects built on Unreal Engine to create developer profiles and showcase interviews.
The company recently highlighted Lords of the Fallen II from CI Games. Game director James Lowe explained that his team aimed to take the identity of their previous work into new territory to engage players and define their place in the genre.
For the first game, developers built the dual-world system by hand. They constructed Axiom and manually layered Umbral on top of it, which required significant labor. The team now uses the Unreal Engine Procedural Generation Framework. This allows developers to build Axiom, set parameters for artists to adjust, and populate Umbral with its signature horror elements.
Unreal Engine tools also help the team generate combat scenarios and modify animations with speed.
CI Games delayed the release of Lords of the Fallen II to the first quarter of 2027. You can add the game to your Steam wishlist or look for it on consoles.
