Lords of the Fallen 2 Developer Denies Elden Ring: Nightreign Plagiarism Accusations

Following the reveal of a new antagonist for Lords of the Fallen 2, fans noted a striking resemblance to a character from a FromSoftware project. This prompted an immediate clarification from the head of CI Games.

A newly unveiled character in Lords of the Fallen 2 has sparked a heated online debate. After official social media channels shared images of the “Crescent Host”—a warrior outfitted in grey plate mail and a distinctive blue cloak—users were quick to spot suspicious similarities to Wylder from Elden Ring: Nightreign. The visual parallels were so pronounced that accusations of plagiarism began circulating across gaming communities almost instantly.

As the central figure of Nightreign, Wylder has become the face of the game, featuring prominently in its promotional materials. Much of the marketing art depicts him with a sword resting over his shoulder—a pose nearly identical to that of the new enemy in Lords of the Fallen 2. This coincidence led many to suggest that Hexworks, CI Games’ internal studio, may have leaned too heavily into FromSoftware’s aesthetic, with some arguing the likeness exceeded the bounds of mere inspiration.

Marek Tymiński, CEO of CI Games, moved quickly to debunk the allegations, describing them as “100% false.” To support his claim, he provided a specific developmental timeline: the Crescent Host’s armor design was finalized on July 17, 2024—five months before Nightreign was even officially announced. By that autumn, the character model had already been integrated into the game engine. Tymiński emphasized that CI Games has “deep respect” for FromSoftware’s legacy and maintains that they do not copy other studios.
