Lena Dunham Joins Taylor Swift’s Circle at Arrowhead, Declares a New “Sports Era”
Published Dec. 9, 2025

Lena Dunham — the writer and director behind Girls and author of Too Much — surprised many by revealing a genuine enthusiasm for professional football and sharing opinions about Taylor Swift’s fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
On Sunday, Dec. 7, Dunham was spotted alongside Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez at Arrowhead Stadium for the Texans–Chiefs game, where the visiting Houston Texans upset the home team 20–10 — a result that could imperil the Chiefs’ playoff hopes for the first time in years.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Dec. 8, Dunham reflected on the outing and her unexpected allegiance: though originally from New York and now living in London, she revealed the Chiefs were her first team and that Dec. 7 marked her debut at Arrowhead. “She’s in her sports era,” Dunham wrote in a playful nod to Swift’s Eras Tour, closing the caption with a brief, affectionate shout-out, “Love you @killatrav.”

The post included several selfies of Dunham decked out in Chiefs apparel alongside Michael Cohen, co-founder of their Good Things Going Productions, plus a shot of her suitcase draped in a Chiefs jacket. Dunham joked that if she’s seen wearing new Chiefs merchandise every day for the next year and a half, fans should blame @handler.official.
Dunham and Swift’s friendship stretches back more than a decade, tracing to 2012 when Dunham was romantically linked to producer Jack Antonoff. Their bond has remained public and supportive: Dunham joined Swift onstage during the 1989 world tour, and Swift later served as a bridesmaid at Dunham’s wedding to musician Luis Felber.
In an interview with The New Yorker in July 2024, Dunham described herself as a staunch protector of Swift’s privacy and explained that she often declines requests for personal details or tour tickets — while nonetheless offering high praise for Swift’s character, calling her kind, devoted and genuinely funny.
Between celebrity friendships and unexpected stadium outings, Dunham’s recent appearances make it clear she’s happily embracing this newfound “sports era.”
