Lana Del Rey is offering her fans a fresh update on the progress of her long-awaited country project. On Saturday, February 7, the 40-year-old singer-songwriter utilized her Instagram Stories to reveal the title and release timeline for her personal “favorite” track from her upcoming album, Stove.

“I just wanted to share a quick message and let you know that my new single—my absolute favorite song from the record—is finally coming. This is the one I’ve been most excited about,” Del Rey shared in a black-and-white video update.

Titled “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” the single is scheduled to debut on the 17th. While she didn’t explicitly name the month, the announcement implies a February release. Del Rey credited her frequent collaborators Jack Antonoff and Drew Erickson for the production, noting that they successfully captured the “magical chord” she felt the song was missing.

The track is notably a family collaboration; it was co-written with her husband, Jeremy Dufrene, alongside her sister Caroline “Chuck” Grant and her brother-in-law. Mixing for the single was handled by industry veterans Dean Reid and Laura Sisk. Del Rey remarked on the collaborative nature of the piece, mentioning that many different voices contributed “bits and phrases” to the final version.

In addition to the audio release, a music video for “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” is already in the bag. “We produced the video ourselves,” she explained. “Even with a DIY approach, it still requires a significant amount of time for editing and technical processing.”

Addressing the inquiries regarding her 10th studio album, Del Rey hinted that Stove could arrive within the next few months. She explained that the physical production of vinyl requires at least a three-month lead time, suggesting a release window roughly three and a half months away.

The journey toward this country record began in early 2024 when Del Rey first announced the project under the title Lasso. Since then, the album has undergone several transformations, including a title change to The Right Person Will Stay before settling on Stove. She previously told W magazine that the delays were necessary because the songs became more autobiographical than she initially anticipated.

“The core of the album has a distinct country flair,” she noted last year. “It’s interesting because when I started planning a country record years ago, it wasn’t the trend it is now. Now that everyone is moving in that direction, I’ve joked with myself about whether I should keep my cowboy hats or put them in storage.”
