Krafton to Shut Down Abyss of Dungeons — the Mobile Version of Dark and Darker
The long-suffering mobile adaptation of Dark and Darker will not reach a global launch and is being discontinued.
Publisher Krafton has announced the shutdown of the mobile title Abyss of Dungeons — a project created as a smartphone adaptation of Dark and Darker. The game had been available in early access under its new name in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, and Thailand, but it will not proceed to a worldwide release.
The most recent update, titled The Master of Chaos, launched on November 26 and will serve as the final patch. Servers are scheduled to be turned off on January 20, 2026, and in‑game purchases have already been disabled. After the servers are closed, all user data will be erased and cannot be recovered.
In an official message the team thanked players for their support and said the decision was reached after evaluating the project’s current condition and long‑term outlook. According to the developers, sustaining ongoing support and consistent development is not feasible.
“After a careful review of the game’s current condition and an assessment of its long‑term prospects, we have concluded that we are unable to provide the experience players deserve.”
Krafton also detailed a refund process: requests will be accepted from January 21 to March 21, 2026. Refunds apply only to unused Platinum Coins purchased between February and September 2025, as well as to paid items bought after October.
The closure of Abyss of Dungeons was not entirely unexpected. In August Krafton suspended pre‑registration for the global version due to weak engagement metrics. At the time the publisher stressed that this did not necessarily mean the release was cancelled, but three months later the team determined the project was no longer commercially viable.
