Kirby Air Riders Soars to No. 1 on Japanese Sales Chart While Ghost of Yotei Risks Dropping Out of Top 30

Nintendo titles occupy nearly the entire weekly top‑10 best‑sellers list.

Famitsu published figures for physical game sales in Japan for the week of November 17–23. Kirby Air Riders confidently topped the charts, shifting 195,594 copies on the Nintendo Switch 2 within its first three days after release — the strongest result of the week and one of the franchise’s most impressive debuts.

According to Famitsu, the launch helped Nintendo reassert its dominance in weekly hardware and software sales. The Switch 2 moved 126,953 consoles, while the PlayStation 5 sold 36,983 units, including a new digital-only edition priced at ¥55,000, available exclusively in Japan.

The top‑10 list is almost entirely Nintendo’s. In second place sits Mario Kart World with 67,068 copies sold, followed by both versions of Pokemon Legends: Z‑A for the Switch and Switch 2, which together topped 50,000 copies. Rounding out the top five is Momotaro Dentetsu 2, which continues to post strong numbers across both Nintendo systems.

By contrast, PlayStation releases appear subdued. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on PS5 held 16th place with 2,899 copies, while Ghost of Yotei — Sucker Punch’s new exclusive — landed only at No. 26 with 1,891 copies sold that week. Since its Japanese launch the title has sold 184,535 physical copies, most of which were concentrated in its October debut week when it topped the national chart.

Interest in the game has noticeably cooled. Weekly sales have slipped below 2,000, and Ghost of Yotei may soon fall out of the top‑30 altogether. For Sony this is a worrying sign: Japanese consumers have refocused on Nintendo hardware — 27 of the week’s 30 best‑selling games are for the Switch and Switch 2.

Still, globally Ghost of Yotei is tracking far more steadily. Sony reports that by early November worldwide sales exceeded 3.3 million copies — a figure comparable to Ghost of Tsushima over a similar period. In the United States, the game ranks among the top‑10 best‑selling releases of 2025.
