Kid Rock is setting the record straight concerning his appearance during Turning Point’s inaugural “All-American Halftime Show” after viewers across social media accused the veteran rocker of miming his vocals during the Super Bowl Sunday broadcast.
In a direct address posted to Instagram on Tuesday, February 10, the musician categorically denied using a guide track to fake his singing. While he admitted that the performance was pre-recorded rather than live, he attributed the visual disconnect to technical mishaps in the editing room. According to Rock, the post-production team struggled to align the audio with his fast-paced delivery of “Bawitdaba,” creating the illusion of a lip-synched performance.
“If I were ever going to lip-synch—which is something I simply don’t do—that would be the last track I’d choose to fake,” Rock asserted in the video. Standing alongside his collaborator, DJ Paradime, he reminded fans that he has performed the high-octane anthem nightly on tour since 1998.
Rock acknowledged the logistical hurdles involved in capturing his stage presence, noting, “It’s incredibly taxing to sync that footage perfectly. I’m constantly moving, tossing the mic, and jumping around. I have total respect for Turning Point and their crew, but in this instance, the timing just wasn’t spot-on.”
Directing his frustration at his detractors, he added a blunt message for the “haters and trolls” before offering a dismissive gesture to the camera. To further prove his point, Rock and Paradime demonstrated the intricate vocal hand-offs required to execute the song’s rapid-fire lyrics live, explaining that the DJ often fills in gaps so the singer can maintain his breath control.
The artist also took the opportunity to criticize what he described as “partisan media manipulation,” drawing comparisons to the scrutiny faced by other artists like Bad Bunny. He claimed that certain outlets are quick to amplify misinformation to serve a specific political agenda.
The “All-American Halftime Show” was conceived by Turning Point USA as a counter-programming alternative to the NFL’s official halftime spectacle featuring Bad Bunny. The event, which boasted a lineup including Gabby Barrett, Lee Brice, and Brantley Gilbert, reportedly pulled in an impressive 6.1 million concurrent viewers.
