Kelly Clarkson to Headline Netflix’s NFL Christmas Game-Day Opener — “A Present We Can All Enjoy”

Kelly Clarkson to Open Netflix’s NFL Christmas Game Day with “Underneath the Tree”

This holiday season, Netflix is adding musical sparkle to its Christmas Day football coverage: Kelly Clarkson will open the streamer’s NFL Christmas Game Day broadcast with a festive performance of her holiday standard, “Underneath the Tree.”

Netflix announced the appearance on , releasing a clip that shows Clarkson in a sequined dress and red lipstick, greeting viewers with a cheerful, “Hey, what’s up, y’all?” She goes on to introduce the broadcast, saying, “It’s Kelly Clarkson, and this year, I’m kicking off NFL Christmas Game Day live on Netflix.”

Pregame coverage is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. ET on December 25, followed by the first kickoff at 1:00 p.m. ET from Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, when the Dallas Cowboys meet the Washington Commanders. The day’s second game — the Detroit Lions versus the Minnesota Vikings — will kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Netflix confirmed there will also be a halftime show; last year’s halftime featured Beyoncé with special guests Shaboozey and Post Malone. The headliner for this year’s halftime performance will be revealed at a later date.

“Underneath the Tree” has become one of the most enduring modern holiday songs: it’s one of only 16 seasonal tracks to reach the Billboard Hot 100 top 10, peaking at No. 9 in January. The song re-entered the chart in November and currently sits at No. 11 on the latest ranking.
