Kelly Clarkson supplanted the weekend break with the launch of the luxurious version of her most current cd Chemistry. To commemorate its arrival, the American Idol alum showed up on the Today program Friday (Sept. 22) to review the job as well as shared that, unlike common belief, it is not a separation cd.
The “Stronger” vocalist informed the hosts that the LP — her initial cd of initial, non-holiday tunes considering that her separation from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock — was composed from a “super personal” area.
“It’s a hard record. It was hard to make, but it’s also not just [about] the bad of a relationship. … I didn’t want it to be a divorce album; I wanted it to be a relationship album. And there’s good stuff on there, like ‘Favorite Kind of High.’ There’s good parts,” she clarified. “It wasn’t all bad, so I wanted to celebrate that as a whole. For the most part, it’s sad. But that’s how I work through what’s going on with me: through writing.”
The three-time Grammy champion additionally took a minute to clarify her child, River Rose, getting on her track “You Don’t Make Me Cry.” Speaking in support of River, Clarkson claimed, “She’s so excited” to be included as well as clarified that her child was just 5 years of ages when she worked with the tune. “I recorded it not that long ago and we loved it and it fit in with the record. She came into the studio and said, ‘Can I sing?’ My producer took my vocal off completely and just let her sing on the track,” she spurted.
Elsewhere on the program, Clarkson required to the Today phase to sing her hit “Since U Been Gone.”
