Céline Dion played air bass while watching Metallica’s Life Burns Faster residency at Sphere in Las Vegas on Thursday (Nov. 5), as fan-filmed footage showed her in a suite at the venue.
In a video shared on Instagram by user @theordacityyy, the Canadian singer stood and mimicked bassist Robert Trujillo’s playing as he performed alongside guitarist Kirk Hammett.
The moment took place during Metallica’s customary “Kirk and Rob Doodle,” an instrumental segment in which Hammett and Trujillo jam together. According to the concert’s reported setlist, the Nov. 5 segment incorporated “Motown Yo Town” and “Copenhagen.”
Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash was also reportedly spotted in the suite, while members of No Doubt were among the other musicians seen at the concert.
Earlier this year, Dion shared songs from her personal playlist, including Metallica’s 1996 single “Until It Sleeps.”
“Eddy, one of my twins, his favorite band is Metallica,” the five-time Grammy winner said in the video, before attempting an impression of frontman James Hetfield.
Dion returned to full-length concerts in September after a six-year absence. Her Paris residency followed her 2022 announcement that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that had affected her ability to perform. She completed the first leg of her Paris comeback performances in October.
Dion has had four No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100: “The Power of Love,” “Because You Loved Me,” “My Heart Will Go On” and her R. Kelly duet “I’m Your Angel.”
Metallica’s Life Burns Faster residency began at Sphere on Oct. 1, bringing the band’s No Repeat Weekend concept to Las Vegas. Introduced during the M72 World Tour, the format features different setlists across paired Thursday and Saturday concerts.
The band concludes the 2026 portion of the residency on Saturday (Nov. 7), with performances scheduled to resume in January 2027.
