Keke Palmer Is Also in the Dark Regarding Jordan Peele’s Next Film

The release schedule for Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated fourth directorial effort remains shrouded in mystery. Originally slated for a theatrical debut in October 2026, Universal Pictures quietly withdrew the untitled project from its calendar last September. Since that tactical retreat, news regarding the production has been non-existent. Following the muted arrival of the Peele-produced HIM, anticipation has shifted toward the filmmaker’s next original nightmare, yet even his frequent collaborators seem uncertain about when he will resurface.

During a conversation regarding her upcoming Peacock series, The ‘Burbs, actor Keke Palmer addressed whether she had received any updates from the Nope director. When asked if Peele had reached out about a potential role in his mysterious new film, Palmer pointed to the director’s history of professional loyalty.

“I haven’t asked him directly, but one thing I’ve observed about Jordan is his commitment to the actors he trusts,” Palmer explained. “His rapport with Daniel [Kaluuya] is well-known. If he feels that same creative connection with me, then I’m hopeful we’ll find ourselves on set together again whenever he decides to unveil his next original concept.”

Peele’s most recent cinematic offering, 2022’s Nope, featured Palmer and Kaluuya as siblings defending their California ranch from a predatory extraterrestrial entity. The film was a resounding critical success and a box-office hit, effectively granting the director carte blanche for his subsequent projects. Peele has been meticulously crafting this fourth feature—described as a “horror thriller”—for several years. While initial plans targeted a 2024 holiday release, industry-wide strikes forced a delay to 2026. With that date now also abandoned, the project’s current trajectory remains unclear.

As fans await further updates, Peele’s stars are moving forward with high-profile ventures of their own. Daniel Kaluuya is set to produce and star in a live-action Barney film for Mattel and A24, offering a contemporary perspective on the purple dinosaur with a script by Ayo Edebiri. Meanwhile, Keke Palmer is both starring in and executive producing a new series adaptation of the 1989 dark comedy The ‘Burbs, which is scheduled to premiere on Peacock this February 8.
