Star-Studded Lineup Added to “Rise Up, Sing Out” First Amendment Concert

The “Rise Up, Sing Out” benefit concert—dedicated to championing First Amendment protections—has announced a wave of new talent joining its already impressive roster. Set to feature legendary performers like Bette Midler, Patti Smith, and Rufus Wainwright, the event is gaining significant momentum with the addition of acclaimed actresses Julia Roberts and Lily Gladstone to the lineup.
On Monday (June 1), organizers expanded the list of participants to include a diverse array of voices, such as Wilson Cruz, Peppermint, Jenn Colella, Alex Joseph Grayson, and the vocal ensemble Singing Resistance. The Rude Mechanical Orchestra, Kayla Davion, and Rev. Adriene Thorne will also join the stage to support the cause.
These performers join an existing ensemble spearheaded by Jane Fonda—the founder of the Committee for the First Amendment—alongside media personality Joy Reid, musician Sasha Allen, and the ensemble Broadway Inspirational Voices.
Event Details:
- Date & Time: June 14, 7:30 p.m. ET
- Location: The Town Hall, New York City
- Access: Tickets are available via riseupsingout.com and Ticketmaster. The concert will also be broadcast via a free global livestream.
All proceeds from the concert will directly fund the Committee for the First Amendment. The organization describes the evening as a powerful fusion of music and activism, designed to foster unity and push back against authoritarian trends currently threatening American democratic principles.
“We cannot stand idly by while our fundamental rights are being challenged,” said Jane Fonda in an official statement. “History teaches us that song is one of our most potent weapons during times of crisis. We are at a critical juncture, and it is time to raise our voices in solidarity and community.”
The production is led by director Schele Williams and music director Mary Mitchell Campbell, with a creative team including producers Bruce Cohen and the team at rigor + ruckus. Additionally, the No Kings Coalition is organizing a nationwide day of action on June 14, encouraging the public to host community watch parties to amplify the message of First Amendment advocacy.
