Electronic music producer John Summit has addressed the chaotic scenes that unfolded during his June 7 performance at Lilly’s Club in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The event, which coincided with the Monaco Grand Prix festivities, was billed as a high-profile dual appearance featuring both Summit and rapper Travis Scott.
The evening took an unexpected turn when Scott arrived significantly behind schedule, leading to a disruptive interruption of Summit’s set. Viral footage from the venue depicts the rapper clambering over DJ equipment and commandeering the stage while the house music artist was still performing.
“Monaco, that was absolutely wild,” Summit remarked in an Instagram story on Monday (June 8). “Things spiraled out of control. My set was effectively cut short because another artist showed up late and forced his way onto the stage. I want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who came out ready to dance and keep the energy high.”
In a follow-up post, Summit shared a clip of his track “Go Back” with the tongue-in-cheek caption, “I wanna go back (onstage to finish my performance).” He also spotlighted his production director, John Fink, for maintaining composure during the skirmish. In that particular recording, the stage is crowded and aggressive, with Fink heard firmly defending Summit, shouting, “Don’t f–king touch him like that,” at an individual in the throng.
Representatives for Travis Scott did not provide a comment when reached by Billboard.
Summit maintains a rigorous European tour schedule throughout the summer, including a residency at Ibiza’s [UNVRS] and a series of appearances at premier festivals like Tomorrowland. He is set to return to the United States in late July for a headline performance at Lollapalooza, followed by a nationwide arena tour later this autumn.
