James Cameron’s 3D Billie Eilish Concert Film Postponed: ‘Worth the Wait’

The highly anticipated cinematic collaboration between pop visionary Billie Eilish and legendary director James Cameron has encountered a slight scheduling shift. On Monday, January 26, the duo revealed that the premiere of their concert film has been pushed back by approximately eight weeks.
Titled HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D), the film was originally slated for a late March debut. It is now officially scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 8. Cameron shared the news via Instagram, posting behind-the-scenes photos of himself and Eilish in the editing room. He explained that the extra time is being utilized to “refine the cut,” optimize cutting-edge 3D technology, and integrate exclusive footage from behind the scenes.
“Worth the wait!” the Avatar filmmaker declared in his caption. Eilish echoed this sentiment on her own social channels, resharing the update and assuring her fanbase that the final product would justify the delay.
This project serves as a high-definition chronicle of Eilish’s 106-date global tour, which supported her 2024 studio album of the same name—a record that successfully debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Cameron, a three-time Academy Award winner, has previously teased the film’s unprecedented technical ambition, suggesting that a concert documentary has never been executed on this specific scale before.
Eilish first ignited rumors regarding the collaboration during the Manchester leg of her tour last July. While performing at the Co-Op Live arena, she hinted to the audience that the increased camera presence was part of a “very, very special” 3D project involving Cameron. Fans can now look forward to seeing the culmination of that work this May.
