Hulu to Stream the Fun yet Polarizing 2025 Predator Film

Following a theatrical run that proved to be as polarizing as it was commercially dominant, Predator: Badlands is finally transitioning to the small screen. The sci-fi blockbuster is scheduled to arrive on Hulu and Disney+ (including international markets) on February 12.
In this latest chapter, the franchise ventures into bold new territory by reimagining the typical Yautja hunt as an unexpected alliance. Set in a future era on a hostile, distant planet, the story centers on Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), a Predator cast out by his own kind. He finds an unlikely companion in Thia (Elle Fanning), as the two embark on a high-stakes trek to confront a formidable shared enemy.
By weaving together brutal choreography, striking cinematography, and a narrative focused on survival and redemption, director Dan Trachtenberg managed to break franchise records. The film earned $184.5 million at the global box office, officially dethroning 2004’s Alien vs. Predator as the highest-earning entry in the series. Despite some friction between traditionalists and new fans regarding its tone, the film boasts a 95% Verified Popcornmeter score and a “Certified Fresh” 86% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

For a series that has spanned nearly forty years, creative experimentation is vital to its longevity. While the “buddy-cop” undertones of Badlands may have strayed from the original formula, Trachtenberg’s track record—including the widely lauded Prey—suggests a director willing to take the necessary risks to keep the Predator relevant. This latest film serves as a testament to the franchise’s ability to adapt, blending classic sci-fi tropes with fresh character dynamics to see what resonates with a modern audience.
