How to find the Hakone Nanamagari touge race in Forza Horizon 6

The Hakone Nanamagari touge race stands out in Forza Horizon 6 for its relentless series of technical hairpin turns. Because this winding, narrow road style is scattered throughout the game’s expansive map, pinpointing the exact starting line can be surprisingly tricky.

This event is a focal point of the “Gazoo Racer” weekly challenge during the summer season of the “Welcome to Japan” series. To secure the win, you are required to pilot a 2022 Toyota GR86. Given the competitive nature of this challenge, we have compiled a few strategies to help you dominate the mountain pass.

Here is everything you need to know to locate the Hakone Nanamagari touge race and emerge victorious.

You can find the Hakone Nanamagari track nestled in the southwest corner of the Forza Horizon 6 map, within the Nangan region. Look for the starting point just northwest of the Irokawa space center, positioned at the beginning of that tight, serpentine stretch of asphalt. Refer to the image above for the exact coordinates.

To satisfy the “Gazoo Racer” weekly challenge, you must triumph in a B-class Toyota GR86. This is a tall order, as your AI opponent is equipped with a vehicle specifically optimized for touge performance. We recommend the following tactics to level the playing field:

  • Adjust the Difficulty: There is no shame in lowering the AI difficulty. The game only cares that you secure the win, not how hard you made it for yourself.
  • Focus on Build Optimization: If you prefer a balanced challenge, tune your GR86 to maximize acceleration, braking, and handling—the holy trinity of mountain pass racing. Just ensure your build remains within the B-class limit.
  • Use Aggressive Tactics: If you find yourself struggling, don’t hesitate to nudge your rival off the track. Since this is against the AI and not a human player, forcing them into a spin off the mountain edge is a highly effective way to guarantee your victory. (Note: Please refrain from this in actual Horizon Open multiplayer sessions!)

Once you cross the finish line first, you will bank 25,000 credits and make significant progress toward the “Welcome to Japan” summer rewards, which include the 1999 Toyota Altezza RS200 Z Edition and the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR.
