Igniting the central flame in Beast of Reincarnation to wrap up the “Origin of the Ringing” side quest requires a trek across the Pilgrim’s Region, a brief exchange with a weathered golem, and a bit of environmental sleuthing. Unlike most roadblocks in the game, brute force won’t cut it here—though solving this riddle brings you face-to-face with the next major Nushi encounter in no time.

Here is a complete breakdown of how to sequence the flames properly and conquer the “Origin of the Ringing” riddle in Beast of Reincarnation.

How to Solve the ‘Origin of the Ringing’ Fire Puzzle in Beast of Reincarnation

Upon venturing into the Mountainous Region: Pilgrim’s Zone (act four’s designated map) for the very first time, you’ll trigger the “Origin of the Ringing” assignment. After navigating the northern cave network, you’ll hit a dead-end cavern featuring a towering monolith, an imposing bell, and a dormant brazier.

Your objective seems straightforward enough: spark the primary firepit in the middle of the chamber. However, standard fire arrows prove entirely useless here. To crack this specific Beast of Reincarnation challenge, you must analyze the trio of smaller fire bowls encircling the main structure and unearth a hidden piece of lore.

The rusted automaton stationed near the massive basin will cryptically advise you to “light the fires in the proper order.” To decipher this sequence, inspect the “Light the Pyres” note resting at the base of the colossal statue. The concluding sentence holds the key: “Light the celestial bodies in the order they were born.”

Each of the three satellite braziers features a distinct celestial engraving representing the sun, the earth, or the moon. Activate them in the following sequence: Sun — Earth — Moon. Put simply, begin with the bowl situated furthest from the monument, move to the one positioned nearest the statue, and finish with the middle bowl.

Engaging with the smaller flames in this exact order will cause the massive central brazier to erupt into flames. Only one final step remains: striking the oversized bell suspended above the pyres. To reach it, ride the lift located just behind and to the left of the giant statue. Venture past the rear of the monument to discover the Belfry Interior resting site. From this campfire, head slightly southeast to ring the bell.

Ringing the bell successfully resolves the puzzle and officially finishes the “Origin of the Ringing” quest in Beast of Reincarnation. The passage leading to the Nushi’s domain is now accessible—simply step through the chamber past the campfire and follow the newly opened route straight to your target.
