Helldivers 2 Receives Massive Update and Joins PS Plus Game Catalog

Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios have officially brought Helldivers 2 to the PlayStation Plus service. Starting Wednesday, the title is accessible via the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, granting subscribers of the Extra and Premium tiers immediate, unrestricted entry to the galactic battlefield.

The arrival of Helldivers 2 on the PS Plus Game Catalog aligns with the satirical tactical shooter’s substantial new expansion, Devoid of Liberty. According to Arrowhead, the enigmatic Illuminate faction has aggressively extended its front lines into the Void, triggering bizarre mutations across multiple unliberated worlds. Players are now commissioned to demolish Illuminate spires and portals, gather critical reconnaissance data, and breach enemy strongholds alongside newly deployed Super Earth Armed Forces (SEAF) units.

These SEAF troops can now materialize in Helldivers 2 as a dynamic planetary modifier. They will fight alongside active Helldivers on deployment missions, bolstering offensive operations with an arsenal of specialized gear, featuring stim pistols, heavy machine guns, and additional tactical hardware.

Furthermore, the patch introduces additional secondary objectives—such as eradicating Void anomalies and securing valuable research samples—alongside supplementary extraction points designed to expedite emergency evacuations.

As outlined in the official Steam patch notes released by Arrowhead, these hazardous new Void mutations present distinct tactical challenges:

Following a broad pricing restructuring across all PlayStation Plus tiers last May, the Essential membership is currently priced at $79.99 per year, $27.99 for a quarterly plan, or $10.99 on a monthly basis.
