During the Interactive Innovation Conference (iicon) held in Las Vegas from April 27–29, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, appeared as a featured guest. In a candid conversation with a Variety journalist, Zelnick offered several compelling perspectives on the company’s future.
Inevitably, the discussion turned toward GTA 6, prompting Zelnick to drop a few noteworthy insights:
- On the ambition behind the title: Regarding the anticipated performance of Grand Theft Auto VI, Zelnick stated: “Our goal is to craft the most spectacular piece of entertainment in human history—a daunting challenge, certainly. If we succeed and truly serve our audience, the financial rewards will naturally follow.”
- The “November 19” hint: Zelnick lightheartedly remarked that many people might be “calling in sick” on November 19, a comment widely interpreted as a signal that the development schedule remains firm and free of further delays.
- Marketing and timing: While he confirmed that an upcoming marketing push should reassure fans that the release is on track, he stopped short of providing a concrete date, offering only that official details are coming “soon.”
- Pricing strategy: When pressed about the potential price point of GTA VI, Zelnick avoided a definitive figure, choosing instead to focus on the philosophy of value: “Consumers pay for the value delivered to them, and our objective is to charge significantly less than that value. Satisfaction sits at the intersection of the product’s quality and its cost; players need to feel the game is extraordinary and that the price was fundamentally fair.”
