GTA 6 Is Ineligible for Ultimate Game of the Year at Golden Joystick Awards 2026

Vote for the Best Video Games of the Year at Golden Joystick Awards 2026

The An Extended Look showcase premiered just one day before nominations closed. It does not appear in Best Game Trailer, and GTA VI is also missing from Most Wanted Game. The game won that award last year, when it took home two trophies, and two years ago.

Voting for Ultimate Game of the Year closes a week later, on October 30. The 44th awards ceremony will take place on November 11, eight days before Grand Theft Auto 6 launches. As a result, the game is not eligible for a nomination.

The game will be eligible for nomination next year at the Golden Joystick Awards 2027.

The missed ceremony also means GTA 6 cannot complete a clean sweep of the season’s five major awards: the GJA (November), TGA (December), DICE Awards (February), GDC Awards (March), and BAFTA (April). So far, only Baldur’s Gate 3 (2023) and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (2025) have managed this feat.
