Albanian Protesters Spare Store Displaying GTA 6 Advertising

A store in Tirana, the capital of Albania, is displaying advertising for GTA 6, and it appears not to be sponsored by the developers. The glass storefront panel at the entrance features the cover art for Grand Theft Auto VI. The window displays the first Jason and Lucia artwork.

The game is currently being heavily promoted, especially in major cities. Miami is the center of the marketing campaign, which Rockstar Games funds. Promotions also appear in other places around the world, and not all of them are sponsored by the developers.

The store appears to have remained untouched during the ongoing protests in Tirana. Albanians have been protesting against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama for more than four months, demanding his resignation. The unrest was initially triggered by the sale of a protected natural area to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, the daughter and son-in-law of Donald Trump, the current US president. The land is intended for the development of a luxury resort. Protesters also cite many other grievances stemming from 13 years of uninterrupted rule.

The protests are popularly known as the Flamingo Revolution, because flamingos are among the wildlife species that could be affected if construction goes ahead. Flamingos are also one of the game’s main mascots.
