GTA 6 Hacker Resurfaces, But the Game’s Source Code Remains Missing

Remember the individual who infiltrated Rockstar Games and disseminated the GTA 6 pre-alpha footage? New details regarding his situation have surfaced after his associates successfully used a drone to smuggle a smartphone and charger to him, allowing the hacker to re-establish contact with the outside world.

The high-profile 2023 investigation concluded with Arion Kurtaj being remanded to a secure medical facility for an indefinite period, pending a reassessment of the threat he poses. By his own account, the initial confinement was surprisingly lenient: he was not in total isolation, had access to a garden, and was permitted an hour of outdoor time daily. Furthermore, he was allowed weekly shopping trips, the opportunity to cook for himself, eight hours of fishing per week, and a £700 stipend.

However, this period of relative comfort eventually came to an end. UK Justice Secretary David Lammy mandated Kurtaj’s transfer to a maximum-security prison. This decision followed reports of his volatile behavior while in custody and his explicit vow to resume his cybercriminal activities. Consequently, the hacker was relocated to London’s HMP Wandsworth. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 2 at Southwark Crown Court.

During his illicit chats, Arion inquired whether the source code for Grand Theft Auto VI had been leaked to the public. He was informed that only the GTA 5 source code had surfaced, which occurred during the Christmas holiday of the same year he was incarcerated.

Current speculation suggests that the GTA VI source code may be held by a private group that purchased the data but is withholding it to avoid sabotaging the launch of what is arguably the most significant game in history. It is widely expected that the full code will only be published after the title’s official release.

While the legitimacy of the Telegram logs was initially debated, the imprisoned Lapsus$ member validated his presence by posting several selfies on Snapchat. In the captions, he describes the prison as a “dump” and expresses a certainty that his current device will soon be discovered and seized, though he remains hopeful about obtaining another.
