The wait is finally over: Gracie Abrams is officially making her return. On Monday, May 11, the acclaimed singer-songwriter delighted fans by announcing her third studio album, Daughter From Hell, sharing the striking cover art and the official release date across her social media platforms.
“My third album arrives July 17,” she announced in her Instagram caption, clearly overwhelmed by the milestone, adding, “Whoa whoa whoa. Totally freaking out.”
The album’s artwork captures an intimate, candid moment featuring Abrams crouched low, her gaze fixed intently on something just out of frame. Reflecting on the upcoming project, she noted, “I am so ready for it to be yours.”
According to the dedicated Spotify countdown page, the highly anticipated record will consist of 16 tracks. This includes the lead single, “Hit the Wall,” set to debut this Thursday, May 14. Once again, Abrams has partnered with her frequent collaborator, producer Aaron Dessner. Their proven creative partnership previously yielded her 2023 debut, Good Riddance, and her 2024 follow-up, The Secret of Us—a pivotal release that saw her soar to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, bolstered by breakout tracks like “That’s So True” and “I Love You, I’m Sorry.”
Abrams had been dropping subtle hints about new material for some time. In her 2025 Billboard cover feature, she discussed how she and Dessner had been finding moments to sync up in the studio, despite their hectic professional schedules.
“Every day that I live with the music, things start to become a little clearer,” she shared during that interview. “There’s something we’re starting to crack that is making both of us feel energized.”
The speculation intensified this past April when Abrams began sharing glimpses of her personal journal, which was adorned with “DFH” stickers, fueling fan theories about the title.
