Gracie Abrams is set to captivate fans once again with her latest single, “Hit the Wall.” The singer-songwriter shared the exciting news across her social media platforms over the weekend, confirming that the track will officially drop on Thursday, May 14, at 2 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
In her Friday Instagram announcement, Abrams expressed her personal connection to the upcoming release: “’Hit the Wall’ is finally coming. It will be available everywhere on May 14th at 5 p.m. PST. I poured everything I have into this one. – DFH.”
The single’s artwork sets a dramatic, mysterious tone, featuring the artist as a hazy silhouette standing against a backdrop of untamed flames.
While unconfirmed, fans widely suspect that the cryptic “DFH” sign-off serves as an acronym for her highly anticipated third studio album. Following the 2023 release of her debut, Good Riddance, and the breakout success of 2024’s The Secret of Us—which marked her first top 10 appearance on the Billboard 200—expectations for her next project are incredibly high.
Building on the anticipation, Abrams previously teased fans last month with a brief, tantalizing snippet of new music that cut out just as her vocals emerged. Her recent social media activity has also offered glimpses into her creative process, including studio sessions with collaborator Aaron Dessner and photos of a notebook decorated with “DFH,” a “3,” and witch-themed stickers.
Reflecting on their partnership in a previous Billboard interview, Abrams noted, “Aaron and I manage to find these small, creative pockets amidst our busy schedules. With every passing day, the music feels more defined. We are currently unlocking something that feels truly electric for both of us.”
