Goodbye, Online: Servers for Three Games to Close in January

The start of 2026 is shaping up to be a somber period for the gaming community, as several notable titles are scheduled to lose their online functionality throughout January.

The most significant casualty is BioWare and EA’s Anthem. Following its removal from digital storefronts in August 2025, the game is set to go offline permanently on January 12, 2026. Because Anthem was designed with a strictly online architecture, this shutdown marks the absolute end of the experience; even the narrative campaign will become entirely inaccessible once the servers are deactivated.

On January 20, the free-to-play combat title Warlander will shutter its services after failing to maintain a sustainable audience. Following closely on January 30, EA will pull the plug on NBA Live 19, officially concluding the game’s nearly seven-year operational run.

There is a minor reprieve for WWE 2K24 players: while its servers were originally earmarked for a January closure, the publisher has pushed the final date to late March 2026. Nevertheless, the base game and all its downloadable content will be delisted from digital marketplaces by the end of January.

This wave of sunsetting continues into the following month, with Project CARS 3 already confirmed to join the list of defunct titles in February.
