The cult classic may be destined for more than just a modern reimagining.
While Poland’s Bloober Team is currently spearheading the Silent Hill remake, the preservationists at GOG appear to have their own distinct aspirations for the legendary horror franchise.
Horror aficionados recently celebrated the 27th anniversary of Silent Hill’s debut, a milestone that did not go unnoticed by the team at GOG:
The digital storefront is currently hosting the “GOG Dreamlist” initiative, a community-driven poll where gamers can nominate titles they wish to see integrated into the platform’s preservation program. GOG’s specialists focus on updating and optimizing these legacy projects, ensuring they remain fully compatible and playable on contemporary hardware.
Although Konami has shown little urgency in rereleasing its back catalog, there is hope that a strong community mandate could provide GOG with the necessary leverage for future negotiations to bring a modernized version of the original Silent Hill to PC.
