Ghost Recon Wildlands PS5 and Xbox Series Versions Nearly Match PS4 Pro and Xbox One X Editions

Technical analysis shows that the free Ghost Recon Wildlands update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S simply adapts older PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X profiles rather than delivering a full next-generation graphics overhaul.

Fans of the tactical shooter Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands received an update for current-generation consoles. However, technical analysis indicates that the scale of improvements is quite modest.

Ubisoft focused on increasing the frame rate rather than a complete graphics rework, using settings from past-generation consoles.

On PlayStation 5, the update is presumably based on the PlayStation 4 Pro profile, combining a 1440p resolution with a doubled frame rate. Xbox Series X uses the Xbox One X profile at up to 1800p, and according to some sources, dynamic 4K at a stable 60 frames per second.

Xbox Series S offers two modes: quality runs at 1440p and 30 frames per second, while performance runs at 1080p and 60 frames per second.

Some players expressed disappointment over the lack of a native version supporting new controller features and modern rendering methods. At the same time, the update is free. The main change is the transition from 30 to 60 frames per second.
