Ghost of Yotei Debuts at No. 1 in Britain Despite Falling Sales

Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, enjoyed a strong debut in the United Kingdom, claiming the top spot in physical sales during its release week.

Christopher Dring, founder of The Game Business, reported that the title outperformed EA Sports FC 26 and sold almost three times as many boxed copies as Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 on Switch.

However, comparing it to the original Ghost of Tsushima launch, he noted that physical sales are down by about 40%. He nonetheless described the outcome as “impressive” given current market conditions.

It’s worth noting that PlayStation’s share of physical game sales has declined substantially since 2020. Sony’s report for fiscal year 2024, which ended in March 2025, shows discs accounted for only 3% of game revenue, while digital sales represented 20%. This suggests the majority of Ghost of Yotei’s purchases came through digital storefronts, meaning the drop in boxed copies doesn’t reflect the full picture.
