Five unreleased tracks from GTA 1 have been found

More than a year has elapsed, yet the @grandtheftautotracks YouTube channel continues to operate remarkably unscathed by copyright claims. The identity of the individual maintaining this archive remains shrouded in mystery. While some speculate that Colin Anderson—the talent behind the radio stations in the early Grand Theft Auto titles—is the curator, he has maintained that the link was simply shared with him by another party.

Regardless of its origin, the channel serves as a vital repository for rare compositions from vintage titles, including the 1998 cult classic Space Station: Silicon Valley. This past weekend, the collection was further enriched by the addition of five tracks originally produced for the first Grand Theft Auto. These pieces never appeared in the game itself, having been used exclusively as promotional material on the long-defunct DMA Design official website.

  • Dr. Lips — Let Me Feel The Groove: A high-energy rave/dance track with a frantic BPM. Sharp-eared fans may recognize certain elements that were later repurposed for GTA 2.
  • Grand Theft Auto — MEGABNCE: A comprehensive megamix featuring a seamless blend of various tracks from the original radio stations.
  • Retrograde — Benzoate (Alternate Take): An alternative version of the atmospheric drum & bass track from Brooklyn Underground FM; snippets of this version also surfaced in the sequel.
  • Steve Banks — Keith Rap: A novelty track produced by programmer Steve Banks. It features voice recordings of lead programmer Keith Hamilton that were originally intended for NPC dialogue but went unused, eventually being preserved as an internal joke.
  • Technophiliak — Lagerstar (Alternate Take): An extended, alternative cut of the driving techno track featured on The Fix FM.
