Fans Crown Madonna and Peggy Gou’s “I Feel So Free” as the Week’s Best New Release

The dance floor has spoken: Madonna and Peggy Gou’s collaborative remix, “I Feel So Free (Peggy Gou Energy Mix),” has surged to the top of this week’s new music poll.
In a reader survey released Friday, May 15, fans selected this vibrant, club-ready collaboration as their favorite track of the week. The remix fended off stiff competition, including a monumental three-album drop from Drake and fresh releases from Maluma, Gracie Abrams, Givēon, and other industry heavyweights.
This winning single serves as an exhilarating appetizer for Madonna’s upcoming studio album, Confessions II, arriving July 3. Marking her first full-length project in seven years, the record serves as a long-awaited spiritual successor to her iconic 2005 dance masterpiece, Confessions on a Dance Floor.
The original version of “I Feel So Free” was crafted alongside Stuart Price, the mastermind behind the production of the 2005 original and a recurring collaborator for Madonna’s concert tours. Peggy Gou’s remix injects the track with a pulsating, house-infused energy, perfectly aligning with the Berlin-based artist’s signature sound—a fitting stylistic marriage following Gou’s massive 2023 crossover success, “(It Goes Like) Nanana.”
Madonna gave fans a tantalizing glimpse of the project last month during a surprise guest appearance at Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella set. The duo performed a high-octane rendition of “Like a Prayer” and teased additional material from the forthcoming album.
The week was particularly crowded with major releases. Drake made headlines with an ambitious triple-album launch—Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour—featuring a staggering 43 tracks and appearances by Future, Sexyy Red, and 21 Savage. Meanwhile, Maluma explored deeply personal themes on his new album, Loco X Volver.
Other highlights included Gracie Abrams’ evolution on “Hit the Wall,” produced by Aaron Dessner, and Tove Lo’s infectious preview of her upcoming LP, Estrus. From Jorja Smith’s club-inspired “What’s Done Is Done” to new projects by Givēon, Shaggy, and Mýa, the week offered a diverse array of sounds for every listener.
