ENHYPEN Embraces a New Chapter: Moving Forward After Heeseung’s Departure
As they navigate life as a six-piece act, the members of ENHYPEN are drawing strength from their bond and their shared commitment to their fans following the departure of former bandmate Heeseung, who has stepped away to forge a path as a solo artist.
In a heartfelt sit-down with Billboard’s Tetris Kelly, Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki shared their perspective on this major transition for the first time. Jungwon noted that the group has been leaning on one another, fostering even closer connections as they embrace this new iteration of the band.
“We have been fully immersed in tour preparations,” Jungwon said, referencing their ongoing Blood Saga trek, which launched on May 1. “We’ve been practicing intensely, sharing meals together, and keeping our focus entirely on crafting an unforgettable stage experience.”
Jake echoed this sentiment, highlighting their primary motivation: “We are well aware of the high expectations fans have for our performances. Our goal remains the same: we want to deliver the absolute best for our ENGENEs.”
The shift in the group’s lineup was confirmed on March 10, when BELIFT LAB announced that Heeseung would be transitioning into a solo career. The label explained that after extensive internal discussions regarding the team’s direction and individual ambitions, they collectively determined that supporting Heeseung’s distinct artistic vision as a soloist was the most productive path for everyone involved.
Heeseung later reached out to his supporters via Weverse to clarify his decision. He noted that after reflecting on the creative work he had been developing independently, he ultimately prioritized the group’s future over his individual desires, hoping to present a more evolved version of himself in the long run.
Since his departure, Heeseung has rebranded under the moniker Evan. While details regarding his debut solo release remain under wraps, the label has confirmed that an album is currently in the works.
Reflecting on the future of the group, Sunghoon emphasized the band’s core mission: “Honestly, we are working tirelessly with our fans in mind. We want to keep creating lasting memories together.”
Currently supporting their hit mini-album The Sin: Vanish—which secured the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200—the group is already deep into the creative process for their upcoming projects.
“While we can’t share too much just yet,” Jake teased regarding their future music, “our next project is on another level. I’ve said it before, but 2026 is going to be a monumental year for us.” He added that while the dynamic has changed, those changes have sparked positive growth for the group’s sound. “Our upcoming music is going to be something truly special.”
