Empire of the Sun Unveil Lineup for Inaugural Chrysalis Festival
By Michael Maxxis

Empire of the Sun have announced the initial lineup for Chrysalis, the band’s new festival concept, scheduled for May 14–16. The three-day event promises immersive performances and a wide-ranging program that blends music with wellness and curated experiences.
Phase one of the bill features three separate Empire of the Sun sets alongside a DJ set from Disclosure and appearances by The Flaming Lips, Magdalena Bay, Del Water Gap, DJ Tennis and additional artists performing across three distinct stages. Organizers say more acts will be revealed in the coming months.
Phase One Lineup (selected)
- Empire of the Sun — three performances
- Disclosure (DJ set)
- The Flaming Lips
- Magdalena Bay
- Del Water Gap
- DJ Tennis
Chrysalis will take place at The Sculpture Gardens in Puerto Los Cabos and is presented in partnership with 100x Hospitality. Beyond live music, the festival program includes yoga, meditation and other wellness sessions, with optional off-site excursions that showcase the region’s landscape and culture. Tickets and event details are available on the official festival site: Chrysalis Festival.
Luke Steele describes Chrysalis as an experience of imagination and renewal. He says the festival is designed to be “spirit-immersive,” inviting attendees to undergo a transformation guided by a symbolic narrative — the Door (threshold), the Key (revelation), the Bell (awakening), Wings (future self) and the Egg (beginnings).

Shortly after Chrysalis, Empire of the Sun are also slated to headline Lightning in a Bottle, taking place May 20–24 in Southern California. These upcoming appearances follow the band’s 2024 studio album Ask That God, and a recent remix of their 2013 hit “Alive” by Brazilian producer Alok.
