Ella Langley Earns Billboard Hot 100 Entry With ‘Choosin’ Texas’

Ella Langley officially logged her 23rd week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Choosin’ Texas” on Tuesday (Sept. 22), marking the longest-running No. 1 hit on the chart of all time.

Langley reshared a graphic listing previous record holders on her Instagram Story on Tuesday morning alongside a teary-eyed emoji and a mind-blown emoji. “23 weeks,” the singer wrote. “Absolutely insane.”

“Choosin’ Texas” debuted on the U.S. songs chart at No. 39 in November 2025 before hitting No. 1 on the Hot 100 in February. Although other releases dethroned Langley’s track at various points, the song repeatedly reclaimed the top spot to total 23 nonconsecutive weeks, surpassing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” as the record-holder.

“I was on a writers retreat with Miranda [Lambert], our first time writing together,” Langley recalled of how “Choosin’ Texas” came together in an April interview with Billboard. “At a young age, she had a pet kangaroo. She told me how she got pulled over once with the kangaroo in the passenger seat. The kangaroo got her out of a ticket, and she said, ‘Of course, I had Texas plates, too.’ I went, ‘Well, she’s from Texas, I can tell…’ Forty-five minutes later, we had the song written.”

“Choosin’ Texas” appears on Langley’s sophomore album, Dandelion, which spent three weeks atop the Billboard 200. The project logged 18 weeks at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart to date.

“It feels surreal,” Langley previously told Billboard News of her signature song’s reach. “I think this has been the biggest moment for me, where I’ve seen where fans can change your career. For so long, you’re like, ‘Alright, one song at a time, one record at a time.’ But with this one song … man, have they taken ahold of it. It’s wild.”
