Dog in the Machine Brings Previewable Turn-Based Battles to Steam on September 29
Studio Chahut and Goblinz Publishing have announced a September 29 release for Dog in the Machine on Steam. The tactical roguelite will cost $17.99 or €17.99, with a 20% launch discount planned for its first two weeks.
The player trains an AutoDog to escape a mechanical city and reunite with its exiled humans. Battles take place on compact grids populated by enemy guardians, conveyor belts, switches and explosive obstacles.
Test a plan before committing
A real-time preview shows how a sequence of instructions will unfold. Players can cancel and adjust their moves before committing, using collisions and environmental reactions to set off chains of attacks.
The build system combines pairs of attacks into new abilities called Tricks. After battles, the AutoDog learns more options, while encounters between fights provide opportunities to buy, exchange and improve cards.
Those combinations determine the character’s capabilities during a run. The developers describe the city itself as part of the tactical puzzle, with the same movement or collision able to affect several enemies and objects.
