Warner Bros. has selected a director for the seventh installment of the Final Destination horror series. Belgian filmmaker Mihil Blanshar (director of “Night Thief”) will take the helm.
Plot specifics and the release date have not been disclosed. The screenplay is credited to Lori Evans Taylor (“Blood Ties”). Among the producers attached is Jon Watts (“Spider-Man”), and production is being overseen by New Line.
Final Destination launched in 2000, centering on a group of friends stalked by Death in its many forms. The most recent, sixth entry was released in May and earned $315 million at the global box office, becoming the franchise’s highest-grossing film.
