Attention, Commanders!

Welcome back to another installment of our Developer Insights.

Following a wave of community feedback, we have decided to officially incorporate the 1940 Canberra Air Disaster into the upcoming Australian content update. Many of you highlighted its historical significance, and we completely agree that it deserves a place in the game.

For those unfamiliar with the history, the Canberra Air Disaster was a harrowing aviation tragedy that claimed the lives of all ten individuals on board—six passengers and four crew members. Occurring at the height of World War II, the incident had a profound impact on the Australian government, as it resulted in the loss of several highly esteemed military strategists and political advisors, leading to a period of significant administrative instability.

The casualties of this catastrophe included:

  • Brigadier Geoffrey Street
  • James Fairbairn
  • Sir Henry Gullett
  • General Sir C. Brudenell White
  • Lieutenant Colonel Francis Thornthwaite
  • Richard Edwin Elford
  • The RAAF Crew: Flight Lieutenant Robert Edward Hitchcock, Pilot Officer Richard Frederick Wiesener, Corporal John Frederick Palmer, and Aircraftman Charles Joseph Crosdale.

As we finalize the mechanics for this event, we would like your input: should the disaster result in the removal of a fixed, historically accurate group of advisors, or should the casualties be randomized to introduce more variety into each playthrough? We welcome your thoughts and any additional suggestions you may have regarding this feature!
