Bulgaria has secured its inaugural Eurovision Song Contest title. Pop sensation DARA triumphed at the 2026 Grand Final in Vienna this past Saturday, May 17, captivating audiences with “Bangaranga.” The track, a vibrant fusion of high-octane electronic beats and traditional Bulgarian folk elements, emerged as the standout performance of the evening.
Taking the stage at the prestigious Wiener Stadthalle, DARA’s commanding presence and electrifying delivery secured a milestone victory for her nation, effectively overcoming years of near-misses and absence from the competition. Israel claimed the runner-up position, while Romania secured third place.
The final rankings were decided by a synthesis of votes from national juries and viewers across 35 participating countries.
In other highlights, Australian star Delta Goodrem delivered a mesmerizing performance of her powerful ballad, “Eclipse,” earning a commendable fourth-place finish—Australia’s most impressive result in recent memory.
Her staging was a visual masterpiece, shifting from an ethereal moonlit atmosphere to a brilliant, golden sunscape that underscored the song’s message of resilience and personal growth. Goodrem’s bespoke couture gown, designed by Velani By Nicky and House of Emmanuele, sparkled with an intricate embellishment of over 7,000 Swarovski crystals.
“The opportunity to represent Australia on such a prestigious global stage has been truly life-changing,” Goodrem remarked. “I am deeply humbled by the outpouring of love from fans at home and abroad. Sharing ‘Eclipse’ felt like the perfect moment to reconnect, and I am eager to share the new music I have been crafting.”
Co-written by Goodrem alongside Ferras Alqaisi, Jonas Myrin, and Michael Fatkin, “Eclipse” signals a major turning point in the artist’s storied career. Goodrem also confirmed the upcoming November 6 release of her eighth studio album, Pure. This 16-track collection promises to be her most vulnerable work yet, blending intimate, piano-driven melodies with grand, cinematic arrangements. Ahead of the album, fans can look forward to a series of exclusive “Pure: Prelude” performances.
The Grand Final is scheduled to air in primetime via SBS and SBS On Demand on Sunday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m.
