In a delightful turn of events, Connor Storrie made an unannounced cameo on Saturday Night Live to serve as the guest presenter for Olivia Rodrigo’s latest musical offering.
The 26-year-old actor, widely recognized for his role in Heated Rivalry and his own successful turn as host on the late-night sketch comedy staple back in February, stepped onto the stage during the May 2 broadcast. His task was to introduce Rodrigo’s poignant new track, “Begged,” a standout selection from her highly anticipated upcoming album.
Clad in a stylish all-denim ensemble, Storrie was greeted by enthusiastic applause from the studio audience as he welcomed Rodrigo back to the stage. This appearance was particularly noteworthy, as the evening saw Rodrigo pulling double duty, expertly balancing her responsibilities as both the episode’s host and its musical guest.
While Storrie did not feature in any of the night’s comedic sketches, his surprise introduction added a memorable layer to his ongoing SNL journey, following his own hosting debut on February 28.
When it came time for the performance, Rodrigo captivated viewers with a soul-stirring rendition of “Begged,” singing the melancholic ballad from the vantage point of a swing. The song serves as a prelude to her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which is slated for release on June 12.
The night was already well underway for the singer-songwriter; earlier in the broadcast, she was introduced by punk legend Debbie Harry for a high-octane performance of “Drop Dead.” As the lead single from her forthcoming record, the track—released on April 17—has already ascended to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Rodrigo’s fourth chart-topping hit.
This episode serves as a significant milestone, representing Rodrigo’s third appearance on SNL and her first time helming the show as host. Her history with the program dates back to May 2021, when she performed music from her debut album Sour, followed by a return in December 2023 to promote her follow-up, Guts.
