Command & Conquer is getting a remaster – and which may not be all

Ok, hold calm everybody. It seems like EA is remastering the unique Command & Conquer with a view to launch in 2020, “to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary”. And it needs your suggestions to affect “our current thoughts for PC and what comes next.”

My arms are bruised from all of the pinching. Last we heard of the collection which set the template for that almost all PC of PC genres – the RTS – it was heading to cell with Command & Conquer: Rivals, in maybe essentially the most unwelcome reveal of this 12 months’s E3.

Understandably (and predictably), a number of PC players had been aggravated about this, and producer Jim Vessella says EA has “heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more. With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary.”

Vessella – who labored on C&C3, Red Alert 3, and Kane’s Wrath – broke the just about suspiciously excellent news on Reddit, in a submit with the unassuming title ‘C&C update from EA’. The authentic C&C launched in 1995, so that will make 2020 its 25th anniversary. Vessella’s point out of “the classic PC games” – plural – suggests it’d come bundled with a few of its successors, or that later games may get the remaster therapy too.

And “what comes next”? Dare we hope for a new numbered C&C? I imply, Tiberian Twilight wasn’t nice, nevertheless it’s C&C. I’m all the time prepared to present it an opportunity. That Reddit thread is popping off with feedback and options, of which essentially the most upvoted is: “you gotta bring Frank Klepacki on board for music”.

Damn proper.
