Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Loses Metacritic Title as Best Game of 2025
Another contender for Game of the Year has arrived — the team behind Hades 2 has also captured a great deal of attention.
The French JRPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has impressed critics and players alike. The title held the top-rated spot of 2025 for quite some time, but the rankings have now shifted.
The complete release of the roguelike Hades 2 has launched and pushed Sandfall Interactive’s project off the top position.
At present, Hades 2 has a Metacritic score of 95/100 for the PC version and 94 for the Switch 2.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sits slightly lower with a 93. In third and fourth place are Blue Prince and Hollow Knight: Silksong, each earning a 92.
