As reported by Variety, the inaugural installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise is set to be showcased at the 79th Cannes Film Festival.
This special presentation commemorates the film’s 25th anniversary. A dedicated “midnight screening” of the high-octane action hit will take place on the Croisette on May 13. The event is expected to be attended by cast members Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster, alongside Meadow Walker, daughter of the late actor Paul Walker.
Debuting in 2001, The Fast and the Furious centered on street racer Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and undercover cop Brian O’Conner (Walker). The series has since expanded to ten installments, amassing over $7 billion in global box office revenue. The final chapter of the saga is slated for release on March 14, 2028.
The Cannes Film Festival will run from May 12 to May 23. The lineup features highly anticipated new works from filmmakers including Andrey Zvyagintsev, Kantemir Balagov, Nicolas Winding Refn, and others.
