j-hope Sets Sights on the Super Bowl: BTS Star Reveals His Ultimate Performance Ambition
Barely a week has passed since BTS officially returned from their multi-year hiatus, and the members are already setting their sights on massive new milestones. While the K-pop icons are busy re-engaging with their global audience, j-hope is already dreaming of one of the most prestigious stages in the entertainment industry.
On Wednesday, March 25, j-hope appeared on the hit South Korean YouTube talk show Gwang Series. During the sit-down, he delved into the creative intricacies of choreographing the “SWIM” music video, expressed his gratitude for the fervent BTS ARMY, and reflected on his favorite moments from years of global touring. He noted that taking the stage at legendary landmarks, such as London’s Wembley Stadium, remains one of the most exhilarating aspects of his career.
“Performing at meaningful, iconic venues is honestly the most thrilling part,” he told host Kany Diabaté, adding that he also relishes the opportunity to explore new countries and local cuisines. “Now, the experiences I used to enjoy will be even more fulfilling because we are back together.”
Having already sold out many of the world’s most famous arenas, j-hope was asked where he would most like to perform next. Without skipping a beat, he revealed his grandest aspiration.
“It’s good to dream big anyway,” j-hope remarked. “The Super Bowl. Wow, that sounds so fun. If we performed at the Super Bowl, I wonder what that would feel like.”
Host Kany Diabaté was quick to amplify his vision, addressing the league directly: “Super Bowl people! NFL, whatever, you have to call BTS. You call them for the next one—2027, whenever!”
This isn’t just a personal wish; it’s a sentiment shared by millions. BTS currently dominates a Billboard poll asking fans who should headline the next halftime show, commanding a staggering 85 percent of the vote.
The prospect of a BTS-led halftime show is far from a reach. In a recent profile with GQ, halftime show curator Jay-Z discussed the evolution of the event’s lineup. He emphasized a commitment to creating a more inclusive and global representation of modern pop music, moving away from the industry’s historical tendency to platform only specific genres.
“We got the opportunity to create a more balanced idea of what popular music is today,” Jay-Z noted, adding that his selections focus on “the most famous people in the world.”
