Brendan Fraser’s New Look Revealed in The Mummy 4 Set Photos

Over the weekend, The Mummy fans got their first look at Rachel Weisz’s return as Evie Carnahan in the upcoming The Mummy 4, which is still without an official title. She will return after skipping out on 2008’s The Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and reunite with Brendan Fraser, reprising his role as soldier-turned-treasure-hunter Rick O’Connell.

On Monday, Page Six published set photos showing Brendan Fraser’s new look in the upcoming film. He sports a spiffy black leather jacket and holds a white helmet. Based on the Rick O’Connell Racing jacket an extra is wearing in a photo, it appears Rick has become some sort of race car driver in his retirement from treasure hunting.

On set is a shiny rocket car for a scene where Rick is presumably trying to set a speed record and break the sound barrier, based on signage in the background of some photos. A couple of the pictures appear to be of Fraser’s stunt double. Page Six also has a new picture of Weisz on set, showing a wide shot of her standing in front of the British Museum with extras and crew off to the sides.

The Mummy officially returns to theaters next year

After two beloved entries (pay no mind to The Mummy Returns‘ Rotten Tomatoes score; that movie slaps), the franchise faltered with the critically panned Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. The 2017 reboot, starring Tom Cruise, was not received any better.

Brendan Fraser and Oded Fehr, armed and alarmed together, in The Mummy

Nostalgic fans hope The Mummy 4 will bring the series back to its popcorn-movie glory. In addition to Fraser and Weisz, more familiar faces are coming back: Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay, John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan, Arnold Vosloo as Imhotep, and Kevin J. O’Connor as Beni Gabor, who died in the first movie. The Mummy 4 will be released Oct. 15, 2027.
