Bonobo Announces Star-Studded New Album: Release Date Revealed

Bonobo Unveils New Album “Distance in Static” and Announces North American Tour

Electronic music visionary Bonobo, the moniker for producer Simon Green, is embarking on a compelling new creative journey. He has officially announced his eighth studio album, Distance in Static, scheduled for a September 11 release via Ninja Tune.

The announcement is punctuated by the arrival of his latest single, “Me and You.” A driving, club-oriented production, the track recently made waves during intimate, unannounced pop-up performances in London and Paris. Fans can also immerse themselves in the song’s striking, crater-inspired official music video.

Distance in Static promises to be a masterclass in collaboration. The tracklist features an impressive array of international artists, including Grammy laureate Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis, and Aanya Martin. Throughout the record, Green artfully weaves together English, Urdu, and Japanese vocals, complemented by intricate soundscapes featuring historic Iranian instrumentation and traditional guzheng melodies.

To celebrate the new material, Bonobo will hit the road this fall for an immersive North American tour. The stage production is being crafted in partnership with creative director Pierre Claude, whose visionary aesthetic has previously elevated the live shows of artists such as Phoenix, Caroline Polachek, and Gesaffelstein.

The tour commences on November 5 at Emo’s in Austin, Texas, with additional stops in major cultural hubs including Chicago, Toronto, and Los Angeles. Fan pre-sales begin on June 11 at 10 a.m. local time, followed by the general public sale on June 12. Full ticketing details are available on the official Bonobo website.

Reflecting on a distinguished quarter-century career—which includes two U.K. Top 10 albums, multiple Grammy and BRIT nominations, and historic sell-out runs at London’s Royal Albert Hall—Green suggests this project may mark a profound shift. “It’s likely the final iteration of this particular format,” Green shared in a press release. “While the future remains unwritten, I am focused on redefining my identity as an artist from this point forward.”
