Billboard has officially announced the appointment of Madeline Montoya as its new Creative Director. The news, shared this past Tuesday (March 24), marks a significant step in the brand’s ongoing evolution.
In her new capacity, Montoya will spearhead Billboard’s global visual aesthetic. She is tasked with leading the design department across all editorial, multimedia, and custom branded content platforms. Her influence will also extend to the brand’s experiential ventures, including a comprehensive redesign of both the legacy print magazine and the iconic Billboard Charts. From striking cover art and photography to immersive digital and live design, she will play a pivotal role in defining the next era of the brand’s visual narrative.
“Madeline possesses a unique eye for editorial aesthetics and a profound grasp of how imagery elevates journalistic integrity,” noted Dana Droppo, Billboard’s Chief Brand Officer. “Her approach is both trailblazing and purposeful, and we are thrilled to have her helm the next chapter of our visual evolution.”
An accomplished graphic designer and creative leader, Montoya’s portfolio includes high-profile collaborations with The New York Times, Teen Vogue, and Bloomberg Businessweek. She also serves as the founding creative force behind Byline, an independent publication focused on amplifying authentic personal voices in the digital and print space.
Her contributions to the field of visual storytelling have earned her prestigious accolades, including being named a Young Guns 23 honoree—a distinction reserved for the world’s most promising creative talents under the age of 30.
