With Season 3 officially underway and the debut of Ranked Mode, high-stakes competition in REDSEC has reached a new peak. As the stakes rise, so does the interest from malicious actors. We have spent the latter half of Season 2 conducting deep-dive analysis and infiltrating clandestine cheat communities to refine our defenses. We are now ready to unleash a new suite of detections designed to protect the integrity of your matches.
Securing the Battlefield: Ranked and Beyond
Competitive integrity is the foundation of Ranked Mode. To meet the community’s high standards for fair play, our developers have spent months architecting, testing, and perfecting new security measures. While some of these tools were deployed quietly in recent weeks, we are now pulling back the curtain on how we are safeguarding your experience in Season 3.
Advanced Detection Models
- Enhanced Behavioral Analysis: We have rolled out sophisticated machine learning models designed to identify players who engage in disruptive conduct that falls outside the bounds of fair competition. This includes stream-sniping, intentional team sabotage, vehicle spawn blocking, and collusive behaviors like win-trading or coordinated match manipulation. Our systems are now fully primed to detect and penalize these toxic infractions.
- Automated Botting Countermeasures: We have observed a rise in illicit botting services attempting to bypass our defenses via cloud-gaming platforms to mask unauthorized inputs. We’ve deployed a comprehensive suite of new investigative models to neutralize these accounts. These tools are already actively identifying and sanctioning accounts involved in advertising cheats, griefing, and match-feeding, leading to a significant reduction in automated interference.
Real-Time Enforcement Acceleration
Traditionally, we utilized ban waves to prevent cheat developers from easily reverse-engineering our detection methods. However, we recognize that waiting for scheduled waves allows bad actors to disrupt more matches. We have now implemented a secondary layer of “threshold enforcement”: when accounts hit specific markers—such as high volumes of reports or anomalous gameplay stats—bans are triggered immediately rather than held for a scheduled update.
Security & Hardware Compliance
- TPM Enforcement: We are transitioning to strict enforcement of Trusted Platform Module (TPM) requirements. With over 98% of our player base already running compliant hardware, this move targets the small fraction of users—mostly utilizing emulators, hardware spoofers, or cheat software—that remain non-compliant. For more information, please review the TPM specifications and ISO/IEC 11889-1:2015 standards.
- HVCI and VBS: While these requirements have been in place since launch, we are currently evaluating the most effective way to deploy them to ensure we protect the game without hindering legitimate players. We are analyzing telemetry data to determine if these requirements should be limited to specific competitive modes or tournament play.
Expanding Our Anti-Cheat Operations
As the landscape of game security evolves, so do we. We are significantly expanding our internal anti-cheat teams. By bolstering our engineering, operations, and threat intelligence departments, we are gaining the bandwidth needed to investigate reports more thoroughly and develop even more robust defensive measures.
Meet “BF_SledgeHammer”
To improve transparency, we are launching the BF_SledgeHammer account. This pilot project allows our anti-cheat specialists to engage directly with the community on official EA Forums and Steam Discussions. Our goal is to address public claims of “false bans” by providing context and clarification where possible, without compromising our security protocols.
Please note: We cannot verify the permanent legitimacy of every account, as player behavior can change or accounts may be compromised. However, we are committed to being more vocal when misinformation regarding enforcement arises.
Enforcement Visibility & Future Outlook
To provide greater clarity to the community, confirmed cheaters will now receive a visible VAC ban. This serves as a definitive indicator to all players that the integrity of our game is being upheld.
Maintaining a fair environment is an ongoing battle, and we are not slowing down. We have many more initiatives currently in the forge, and we look forward to sharing further updates as they are finalized. Stay sharp, soldier—we’ll see you on the battlefield.
